the secret garden

The sky was a tease that day.

Golden waves of sun dappled our faces as we emerged from the forested path,

but several small storm clouds lurked above,

as if to remind us that it could rain at any minute.

After a few half hearted attempts, the rain began to fall with purpose.

We hurried over to a large, vine strewn gazebo

even as I wistfully eyed the steady downpour.

It was a hot day and the inner child in me was begging to play in the water.

Puddles are a photographer’s best friend.

Who can say no to the wonders of a reflection?

Or a chance to dance in a puddle?
